Hojai MLA asks Zubeen Garg to Stay out of Politics during Cultural Programs

Guwahati, May 18: After all the issues relating to comments and statements by Singer Zubeen Garg on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 now Hojai’s controversial MLA Shiladitya Dev has asked the singer to stay out of politics during cultural programs.

Speaking on the recent issues, Shiladitya Dev stated that Zubeen is a singer and he should continue singing. “Politics is a thing that politicians do and Zubeen being a singer should stay away from politics and let the politicians handle it”, he said.

Dev added that Zubeen should sing with responsibility and now it will depend on him how the law and order situation in Lumding remains during his visit for the show. If he performs his duties properly, the society will remain healthy but if he continues with his politics then the situation might worsen and he will be responsible for that.

Reacting to the issues related to Zubeen and his Lumding performance where few miscreants stated that Zubeen should be boycotted, ULFA leader Jiten Dutta stated, “The people of Assam will not tolerate any Bangladeshi threatening Zubeen who is a son of the soil. The Bengali speaking people in Assam should also support Zubeen and try to bring out the culprits out.”

He added that the police should take immediate actions against such hate mongers who are trying to create a communal division among the people of the state.
