Home Minister Amit Shah seeks detailed report in PM’s security lapse
Guwahati: The Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a detailed report on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security breach in Punjab that took place on Wednesday.
Taking to Twitter, Amit Shah wrote, “Such dereliction of security procedure in the Prime Minister’s visit is totally unacceptable and accountability will be fixed.”
Earlier in the day, PM Modi was stuck on a flyover in Punjab around 30 kms away from National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala after the road was blocked by protesting farmers.
The PM was stuck for over 15-20 minutes and this was claimed as a major lapse in the security of the Prime Minister.
Images of the PM’s cavalcade stuck on the flyover showed private cars approaching the cavalcade, which was a major security lapse.
PM Modi was scheduled to address a rally in Ferozepur on Wednesday, but the event had to be cancelled.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma too pointed a finger at the Congress government in Punjab, calling it disinterested in the state’s development.
“Today’s incident shows how Congress is least interested in development and only wants to play politics. Such a security breach in the crucial border state must be enquired at the highest level,” CM Sarma said.
