GUWAHATI: The heroic act of Assam Police Home Guard Borsing Bey’s noble and honest act has been praised and acknowledged by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. Bey was handed over the appointment letter by CM Sarma as constable under Assam police on Saturday.
Bey has been awarded for displaying an example of an honest act by refusing bribe money and helped in seizing drugs worth Rs 12 crore on June 21 at Dilai in Karbi Anglong district.
CM Sarma appointed Bey as a constable in the police at an event in Guwahati which was attended by DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta and ministers Keshab Mahanta, Jogen Mohan, Atul Bora, UG Brahma, deputy speaker Numal Momin and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang.
Chief minister Sarma said, “He has set a remarkable example of integrity in confiscating drugs worth Rs 12 crore as Home Guard & refusing inducements. Exemplary deed of Sri Bey will keep inspiring others to rise above personal interests & work for the greater cause of society.”
Recently, Bey was felicitated by Assam police and rewarded with one lakh rupees. Thereafter, Assam police sent a letter to chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to appoint Borsing Bey under Assam police. Hence, CM Sarma through a cabinet meeting decided to appoint him as a constable from home guard.
