Hornbill Festival to be held ‘Virtually’ this year

The Hornbill Festival of Nagaland usually attracts thousands of tourists from across the world boosting the tourism sector of the north-eastern state

GUWAHATI: This year Nagaland’s popular annual Hornbill Festival, held from December 1 to 10, will be organised virtually.

The Nagaland state government had received criticism after its tourism department issued a notification, asking other departments to initiate preparations for the festival.

Earlier, the opposition party in Nagaland- the Naga People’s Front (NPF) termed the government’s initiative to hold the festival as a ‘suicide mission’ owing to the pandemic. It further added that since the Nagaland government has decided to celebrate the festival virtually, it could have been canceled only.
