    Huge Cache of Arms and Explosives Recovered from Assam-Manipur border

    Sources said that the arms and ammunition were suspected to belong to militant outfits from Assam’s Karbi Anglong district

    GUWAHATI: Assam Rifles unit has recovered a large number of arms and ammunition in Rengpang, Nonei district in Manipur on April 14.

    The seizure included at least three sophisticated rifles, two automatic pistols, magazines, explosives, walky-talkies and a large amount of ammunition. A two-wheeler was also seized in the operation.  

    Sources said that the arms and ammunition were suspected to belong to militant outfits from Assam’s Karbi Anglong district.

    Earlier, at least eight cadres of NSCN (KYA) and NSCN(R) surrendered before the security forces after the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police at Longding, Arunachal Pradesh. Out of them, five cadres belonged to the outfit of NSCN (K-YA) and three from NSCN (R).
