    Huge IMFL consignments seized in Amingaon, driver apprehended

    Guwahati: In yet another major achievement to the Assam excise department, a 16-wheeler truck laden with illegal IMFL consignments was seized by the sleuths of the excise intelligence bureau at Amingaon on Thursday.

    Based on a tip-off, the excise intelligence bureau team led by Subhash Baishya seized the huge consignment of foreign liquor or Indian-Made-Foreign-Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 5 lakh.

    As per Excise official Subhash Baishya, the truck carrying the consignment was heading towards the Kokrajhar district from Arunachal Pradesh.

    Meanwhile, the truck driver identified as Manish Kumar has been apprehended by the department.

    It is noteworthy to mention that there was an apprehension of clandestine in-flow of liquor into Assam from neighbouring states like Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, the Excise department of Assam had already launched strict vigil to control and check the inflow of illegal liquor and country liquor through interstate and international border ahead of the state assembly elections.
