Hundreds Of Folk Artistes Perform To Maximise Voters Participation In Nalbari

Ahead of the second phase of the parliamentary elections and amid the Bihu festivities, the Nalbari district administration in a drive to increase the voters participation has engaged around 200 folk artistes to reach out to the voters and motivate them to cast their votes on the polling day.

The artistes performed various art forms like Putola Naach (string puppetry), Ojapali, Biya Naam, Aai Naam and Maho Ho and so on.

While talking about the drive, Deputy commissioner Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury said that the initiative was taken to make the voters aware of their democratic right and accordingly the scripts and lyrics were prepared.

The Nalbari district which falls under the Mangaldai Lok Sabha constituency has a total of 1.2 lakh voter families.

Polling for the Mangaldai constituency will be held on April 18th, 2019.

A total of 1,795,529 electors will decide the fate of the candidates out of which 920977 are male, 874520 female and 32 are the third gender. A total of 2353 polling stations will be installed in the constituency for smooth conduction of the polling.
