Guwahati, August 11: Yet another beef fest was organized at Mizoram today which was attended by hundreds of protestor from across the state. The festival was held at Lunglei, in south Mizoram and protestors carrying placards with slogans like, “Let us live in peace, not in pieces,” came to attend the second beef fest in the state in recent times.
Some speakers in the fest warned that India would “break up” if some religious bigots try to impose their religious and communal agenda on others through the government.
The protestors said that beef is a part of the Mizo culture. And said they have the right to eat whatever they want to eat, without fear of being persecuted.
It is to be noted that earlier, beef feast was organized in Aizawl on June 12, when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju were in Mizoram.
Hundreds had attended the earlier fest that was held on June 12 despite unpleasant weather.
