IAS officer takes crowdfunding way to renovate school in Meghalaya

Tura (Meghalaya), November 8: After Chief Minister Conrad Sangma took the lead to donate his monthly salary for revival of a school in Meghalaya’s Garo Hills, this time Swapnil Tembe, sub- divisional officer (civil) of Dadenggre, has initiated a campaign via crowdfunding for renovation of a school in West Garo Hills.

The bureaucrat has registered with Milaap, the country’s largest crowd-funding website to renovate Songadingre Lower Primary School.

The IAS is said to have been inspired by Sangma’s gesture who had donated his one month salary for renovation of a school in West Khasi Hills.

Taking the same route, Tembe too decided to donate his salary towards the renovation of the dilapidated school building.

As per information, 11 individuals had donated to the cause and Rs 40,250 has been collected till now. The official is reportedly trying to collect atleast Rs 1.5 lakh through crowd-funding, as he plans to turn the school into a model institution.
