    ‘Ibha’: FIFA named its U-17 women world cup official mascot in Khasi language

    When received the information, a jubilant Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma said that he was super stoked.

    Guwahati: FIFA has named its official mascot for U-17 women’s world cup India 2022 as ‘Ibha’. The word derived from the Khasi language of Meghalaya which means women power.

    The mascot which was an Asiatic lioness was named Ibha by the FIFA.  

    As per the FIFA, the name Ibha was chosen for the official mascot with an aim to encourage women and girl childs across India and around the world to realise their potential.

    When received the information, a jubilant Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma said that he was super stoked.

    He immediately tweeted: “Super stoked to learn that @FIFAWorldCup has announced its official mascot for the U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 as ‘𝐈𝐛𝐡𝐚’ derived from the #Khasi language of #Meghalaya representing #NariShakti or women power!”
