GUWAHATI: Assam’s popular film actor Barsha Rani Bishaya who was at the forefront of the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) movement said that she would not join active politics.
Welcoming the newly floated regional front of Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), the actor said that though she would not join it but was hopeful for its future.
The actor said, “The 2021 state poll will determine the future of the entire Assamese community. The people of the state need to act firmly in the coming poll.”
Earlier during the anti CAA movements in the state last year, Barsha was actively involved in the protests and participated in multiple numbers of protest events organized by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP).
Everyone believed that the actor might also join the party formed by the two student groups.
