Illegal Cattle Transportation in Nagaon: SP Mishra gives ultimatum to OCs, ICs
Guwahati: With the arrest of the Nagaon police constable for their alleged involvement in illegal transportation of cattle, the Nagaon Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra said that the district police has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against anything illegal in Nagaon.
The top district cop also directed the officer-in-charge (police stations) and in-charge of the (police outposts) in the Nagaon district to take the responsibility of their on-duty police personnel.
Addressing the media, SP Mishra said, “A meeting was conducted with the OCs and ICs of Nagaon district. From now onwards, the responsibility will be fixed upon the concerned OCs and ICs. If there is anything wrong, they shall be held responsible. There shall be zero-tolerance towards anything illegal in Nagaon district.”
SP Mishra added, “Nagaon police will take strong action taken against people including police personnel who found involved in any illegal activity in the district. As we are the part of the law enforcement agency, thus, it is our double responsibility to abide by the law at any cost.”
The top cop also mentioned that the hunt for the absconded home guard in the case is on and he will be nabbed soon.
Meanwhile, the Nagaon police on Monday seized another 29 cattle under Bagori Police Outpost.
Earlier, the district police had seized 42 cattle, 2 trucks, and 1 car along with Rs 34,560 from the possession of the arrested accused.
A total of six persons, including a constable, were arrested by Nagaon police on charges of illegal transportation of cattle last Sunday.
