Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this year will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial instead of Amar Jyoti Jawan at India Gate before the Republic Day parade. From there Modi will go to Rajpath for the parade which will start at 10 am.
For the first time Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat will be a part of the R-day parade. He will be joined by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Shripad Yesso Naik and Defence Secretary Ajay Garg.
It may be mentioned that the national war memorial monument was built to honour the Indian Armed Forces who had who laid down lives for the country since the country’s independence. It was opened on February 25th , 2019 by PM Modi.
According to reports 16 marching contingents from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and Paramilitary forces will take part in the parade. It will also have 22 tableaux from various states and government departments.
