GUWAHATI: Meet Munmi Gogoi from Assam’s Lakhimpur district who is all set to wrestle in the Kerala local body polls on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.

Married to a man in Kannur’s Iritty panchayat, Gogoi said that she is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pro-people initiatives.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made several schemes for us. Some of these schemes are not reaching the poor families. I am contesting the election as a BJP candidate, to try and bring these schemes to my village,” she told media.

In the CPI (M) stronghold of Kannur, Gogoi has decided to bring the necessary changes for people-friendly governance.

She added, “Kannur has accepted me as its daughter-in-law. I believe Iritty panchayat will also accept her as the new family.”

Narrating her journey to Kerala, she said that a ‘wrong number’ call from her husband Shaji had changed her destiny. She informed that her husband had a friend in Assam and was dialing him when the call got connected to her.

Soon they started to exchange calls and their love bloomed. Later, they got married.
