Huge financial cash deposits to the tune of approximately Rs 4.12 crore, for the period 2011-2016, in the bank accounts of IFS officer Abhijit Rabha, who was then the Additional PCCF, Karbi-Anglong, has been reported in Assam.
Rabha has failed to explain the source of the money and other high-value cash deposits. The Anti-corruption branch police station had registered a case against him under sections 13(1)(b)/13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, against Rabha.
There have been several cases in the past where bureaucrats were booked in corruption cases. The civil servants should treat their profession as a public service. They must uphold integrity and honesty at all times.
They must at the forefront in eliminating corruption and ensure sustainable and inclusive growth by providing good governance.
The civil servants should take up the elimination of corruption as a mission and not just perform assigned duty in a mechanical and routine fashion.
Efficient and effective delivery of public services is the key to good governance as the bureaucrats act as the bridge between the government and the common man.
