GUWAHATI: In its effort to boost up the spirit, the state government on Thursday relaxed the movement of individuals during the 74th Independence Day.
Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna said, “In view of the celebration of Independence Day, movement of individuals shall be allowed between 6 AM and 5 PM on August 15 subject to maintenance of all Covid-19 protocols including social distancing, hand hygiene and the wearing of face cover in public places at all time.”
On Thursday, Krishna, accompanied by M Angamuthu, State government Commissioner and Secretary, MP Gupta, Commissioner of P, Guwahati, Biswajit Pegu, Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup and other district administration officials, visited the Judge Field and reviewed the preparedness.
This year, State’s capital Guwahati will celebrate the 74th year of freedom at the historic Judge Field as the playground of College of Veterinary Science at Khanapara has been converted into a COVID Care Centre.
Notably, both the occasions; Independence Day and Republic Day had been celebrated at the historic Judge Field since 1947. However, the state government shifted celebrations of both the mega-events to the playground of College of Veterinary Science at Khanapara in 2008 reserving Judge Field exclusively for sporting activities.
