The six-time world champion from Manipur Mary Kom on May 21st, 2019 made her ticket to the semifinal in the ongoing India Open Boxing Meet at Guwahati. She won the game with a score 5-0 against her opponent mala Rai of Nepal in the 51 kg category.
Walking into the ring to the loud cheers of a packed crowd at the Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium here, the London Olympic bronze medalist – Kom wasted little time for her win.

“It is also a learning experience for me. The Nepal opponent was experienced and quite strong. It’s glad to be back in India. We all are trying our best to make the country proud,” Mary Kom, who made her competitive debut at home in 51kg, said.
Mary will step in the ring against fellow Indian and Asian Championships bronze medalist Nikhat Zareen in a blockbuster semi-final as the duo confirmed two medals for India.
