Inland Water Transport Divison Restricts Ferry Services In Guwahati

The Inland Water Transport Divison (IWTD) has restricted the Guwahati-based ferry services up to 6:45 pm from July 11th, 2019. The order will be in force until a further order is prompted.

The IWTD has issued the order keeping in view the safety of the lives and properties since the water level of the Brahmaputra is rising above the warning level due to incessant rain.

The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Nimatighat in Jorhat and Sonitpur while Dikhou in Sivasagar, Dhansiri at Numaligarh in Golaghat, Puthimari in Kamrup, Jia Bharali in Sonitpur and Beki is flowing above danger level in Barpeta district. A total of 749 villages across 17 districts are reeling under flood.
