    Insurgent group ‘chairman’ Martin Guite killed in encounter in Assam

    Chairman of United People’s Liberation Front (UPRF) Martin Guite was killed in an encounter with a team of Assam Police in a village in Manja area of Karbi Anglong district on Monday evening.

    Guwahati: Chairman of United People’s Liberation Front (UPRF) Martin Guite was killed in an encounter with a team of Assam Police in a village in Manja area of Karbi Anglong district on Monday evening.

    Assam ADGP GP Singh too Twitter to confirm the encounter, he wrote: “Late last evening, Martin Guite, SS Chairman of UPRF, an insurgent group active in Karbi Anglong, was wounded and later declared dead in exchange of fire with team of @assampolice in Manja PS area of Karbi Anglong. @DGPAssamPolice @CMOfficeassam”

    The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge of Manja Police station Jitumoni Deka with the co-operation of a commando team. The police recovered a huge amount of ammunition from the UPRF chairman.
