Two militant groups in Manipur – Zomi Re-unification Organisation (ZRO) and Kuki National Organisation (KNO) – have allegedly written to BJP president Amit Shah seeking the party’s ticket for their favoured candidate in the Outer Manipur parliamentary seat.
In separate letters to Shah, ZRO and KNO allegedly sought BJP’s ticket for HS Benjamin Mate who is a vice president of BJP’s Manipur unit, as reported in The New Indian Express on March 10th, 2019.
It may be mentioned that both KRO and KNO are Chin-Kuki (tribe) rebel groups. Both the groups are in a peace mode following their signing of “suspension of operation” agreement with the government.
However, Mate dismissed the “fake letter of recommendation”. ” The fake letter of recommendation of both the organisations has been circulated on social media since the past few days. And it has been clarified as fake by the organisations and myself. This fake letter of recommendation is suspected to be the handiwork of some vested interest groups to tarnish my image and assassinate my political career,” said Mate to TIME8.
