Keeping in view the prevailing law and order situation, internet services across Assam which were to remain suspended till December 16th, 2019 morning, have been extended for another 24 hours, in 10 districts.

The internet services have been suspended at Lakhimpur, Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Kamrup (Metro & Kamrup) of Assam.

As the Rajya Sabha was debating over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill on December 11th, 2019, violent protests broke out in the state with Guwahati becoming the epicentre as the agitators engaged in pitched battles with the police, forcing the administration to impose curfew in several places.

At least four people have been killed in police firing so far, while an oil tanker driver was charred to death when his vehicle was set on fire in Orang.
