From taking fashion runways by storm to featuring in numbers of fashion magazines, Assam-born model Siddharth Gogoi is probably the next big thing.
Ruling the glitz and glamour industry for the last six years, the Golaghat boy, who is planning to go international, knows how to keep chasing dreams and passions alive.
Siddharth takes out time from his busy schedule and shares a few rhapsodies of his career as a male fashion model in Mumbai with TIME8.
T8: So tell us when did it all start, your career in modeling…
Siddharth: It all started way back in 2012 when I used to work for a company called ‘Fitness First’ after completing my graduation. That’s when I met a fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar India, Edward Lalrempuia and designer Atsu Sekhose. I got casted in their show for the Wills Fashion Week and got noticed by a few designers and then the rest is all history. The first experience was overwhelming and thrilling at the same time.
T8: You have been making waves in the mainstream fashion industry, Assam is so proud of you. How does it feel? Also, If you could share some of the brand names you have worked with so far…
Siddharth: My first big brand endorsement came from Royal Enfield and this really helped me build my profile. At first, I wondered getting into this industry would be a herculean task but I knew what I want and worked really hard towards my goals. But I have to mention that I was really lucky to work for good brands and campaigns.
I have worked for the brand campaigns of Jabong, Myntra, Nnnow, Ajio, Koovs, Fila, Westside, Parx, Anand Ahuja’s Bhane, Manyavar, Park Avenue, Snapdeal, Amazon, VOI jeans. Some of the designer campaigns include Rajesh Pratap Singh, Shantanu and Nikhil, Kanika Goyal, Josh Goraya, Antar Agni by Ujjawal Dubey, Sahil Aneja, Ashish N Soni, Wendell Rodricks, Arjun Saluja, Huemn, Lovebirds and so on.
I have also walked for Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Manish Malhotra, Atsu Sekhose, Ashish N Soni, Wendell Rodricks.
I have also walked the ramp for Amazon Fashion Week, India Bridal Fashion Week, India Couture Week and Lakme Fashion Week.
T8: If not a model, what was your alternate career option…
Siddarth: I would have been a chef. I love to cook and is also a big-time foodie. As I was a fitness enthusiast, I used to eat home-cooked food. I am a conscious eater and always prefer a healthy meal.
T8: Your fashion inspiration(s)
Siddharth: I think David Beckham is one of the most stylish human beings on this planet. He has always been a trendsetter and my truest inspiration.
T8: With your busy schedule, how do you manage time to stay healthy. Share some fitness tips for our readers…
Siddharth: During summers, we need to keep ourselves hydrated. So I would suggest everyone to drink sufficient water and avoid canned drinks. Also, if someone is hard pressed for time, one can go running.
T8: Your dream project?
Siddharth: My dream is to work for an international brand.
T8: Any motivational quote you live by…
Siddharth: There are times when you feel low and nothing goes right so in order to keep myself motivated I live by ‘Never Give Up’ theory.
T8: Your future plans?
Siddharth: Currently, I am concentrating on my career and trying to do some good work. Someday, I would love to have my own production house.
