Rajasthan Royals’ new hero and young cricketer from Assam’s Guwahati, Riyan Parag on April 22nd, 2019 celebrated his first wicket in the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Mumbai Indians in Jaipur by adding a flavour of Bihu on the field.

The 17-year-old cricketer from Assam seemed dancing Bihu poses in his third game for the Rajasthan Royals.

Parag scored 43 while Smith remained unbeaten on 59 as RR registered their third win of the season. Had he scored a fifty, Parag would have become the youngest in the league’s history to get to a half-century. Parag also bowled two overs of leg-spin, giving away 17 runs from them.

Parag described the feeling as surreal when Unadkat asked him how it was like playing for the Royals and winning the game with his bat.

“It feels really surreal. Been watching the IPL for the last 5-6 years and now being a part of it and playing for Rajasthan Royals, contributing to my team feels surreal. I’m grateful to RR for picking me,” Parag told Unadkat as quoted by India Today.

On April 20th, 2019, a photo of Parag donning the ‘Axomiya Gamusa’ style handkerchief tucked in his trousers during the IPL match went viral on social media. Seeing the performance of Parag, netizens were full of praises for the budding cricketer. Veteran all-rounder Irfan Pathan was so impressed with Parag’s knock that he took to Twitter to appreciate the young batsman.
