GUWAHATI: Reigning Indian Premier League (IPL) champion Mumbai Indians (MI) has shortlisted a Nagaland teen Khrievitso Kense for trials ahead of the season expected to get underway in April. Khrievitso, a 16-year-old leg spinner, caught everyone’s attention with an impressive show for Nagaland in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Making his debut, the cricket prodigy played four matches and scalped seven-wicket at an average of 12.00. His best figure was against Mizoram where he picked three wickets for 16 runs.
Impressed with his performance, Mumbai Indians has now invited a 16-year-old spinner from Nagaland, for the trials ahead of the IPL 2021 auctions.
Nagaland Cricket Association Secretary Hyunilo Anilo Khing confirming the news tweeted: “Excited to share about dis young 16 yrs old leg spinner khrievitso Kense who made his debut the SyedMushtaqAliTrophy2021 has been shortlisted by the Mumbai Indians.”
If selected, he might be the first cricketer from Nagaland to play in the popular tourney. He might be a backup to Rahul Chahar.
