Guwahati: The crime branch of city police on Monday conducted raids at the residence of the IPL betting mastermind Ashok Kumar Jain and Manoj Kumar Jain.
During the raids, the crime branch has seized around Rs 26.42 lakh cash and four mobile handsets.
It is to be noted that both the bookies are absconding from the state, as per a police record.
On Saturday, based on the confession made by the three arrested high-profile gamblers namely Dipesh Bajoria, Raunak Bajoria and Rajesh Jain, the crime branch raided the residence of one Ajay Agarwal at ‘Maple Oak’ apartment in Nabagraha area in Guwahati.
During a raid at Ajay Agarwal’s residence, the crime branch seized five mobile handsets and cash amounting to Rs 3.66 lakh.
Bookie Ajay Agarwal is also absconding as per a police record.
Meanwhile, names of several high profile businessmen, contractors have also come to the light for their alleged association with the IPL betting nexus.
Sources informed that these high-profile businessmen, contractors are being allegedly operating from various parts of the nation.
Names of few more suspected gamblers who are absconding are as follows:
- Nabin Goyal and Praveen Goyal (Brothers) operated from ABC, Ganeshguri, Beltola in Guwahati
- Anil Rathi and Vikash Agarwal (Residence- Dhirenpara, Guwahati) operated from Delhi
- Amit Chetia and Narayan Tiwari operated from Fancy Bazaar, Guwahati
It may be mentioned that the father of arrested duo Dipesh Bajoria, Raunak Bajoria, Lalit Kishore Bajoria is currently absconding.
It is alleged that Lalit Kishore Bajoria has been associated with the betting racket for a long period of time.
