As a befitting tribute to Vikaram Sarabhai on his 100th birth anniversary, a special Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)-themed Durga Puja pandal has been set up at Chatribari area of Guwahati. Sarabhai is the founder of ISRO.
The pandal has been designed by the Chatribari Sarbajanin Debo Pujasthan Samity. The pandal is also celebrating 50 glorious years of ISRO.
The ISRO is the space agency of the Government of India headquartered in the city of Bengaluru. ISRO built India’s first satellite, Aryabhata, which was launched by the Soviet Union on April 19th, 1975. On 22 July 2019, ISRO launched its second lunar mission Chandrayaan-2 to study the lunar geology and the distribution of lunar water.
