With few days to go for the high-voltage Lok Sabha Elections 2019, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has urged people to cast their votes by taking twisting an iconic scene from the 90’s Bollywood classic, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol.
The blockbuster film ends with an iconic climax scene that has become part of pop-culture. The 1995 release turned out to be the biggest film in their careers.
Decades after film’s release while most of us continue to remember the famous scene of actor Amrish Puri saying his dialogue, ‘Ja Simran Ja, Jee Le Apni Zindagi’. In the scene, Simran (Kajol) pleading to her father (Amrish) to get onto the train (Raj) Khan is on, and her ‘Bauji’ denies it, until a sudden change in heart and allows her to go, saying, ‘Ja Simran Ja, Jee Le Apni Zindagi’. Kajol runs towards Shah Rukh Khan who is already on a train that’s leaving the platform.
Taking the cue from the scene, the PIB took to Twitter and gave the election treatment to it. “Every Election Is Determined By The Voters Who Turn Up. Voting is not just a responsibility, its a duty. Be a responsible citizen, turn up to vote,” PIB tweeted.
