Guwahati: After busting a terror module operating in Morigaon, Assam police on Saturday raided a Madrassa at Bherbheri village in Dhing under Nagaon district.

The police also launched a raid at the residence of Mufti Mustafa’s maternal uncle identified as Amir Hamza, a teacher at the ‘Pachim Bherbheri Sobahi Madrassa’.

It is learned that the police have detained Amir Hamza for further questioning.

Notably, around 20 persons suspected of having links with Ansar al Islam, Bangladesh chapter were arrested within the last three months for allegedly carrying out jihadi activities in Assam.

In the last 48 hours, Assam police have also arrested two persons from Morigaon and Goalpara for having links with the Jehadi groups of Bangladesh. Seven more people were detained from Barpeta and Guwahati on July 28 also and were undergoing quizzing.
