Guwahati: Arriving at the historic Jerenga Pathar in Sivasagar on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Jerenga Pathar will be a part of the five most iconic archaeological sites and the government is taking necessary steps to do the needful.
He also paid his tribute to the sacrifice of Joymoti, the Ahom princess who sacrificed her life for her husband Gadapani, in the Jeranga Pathar.
The Prime Minister landed at the Rowriah airport in Jorhat district for his a day-long Assam visit. His visit is significant keeping in view of the ensuing state Assembly polls 2021.
Addressing a gathering of over 2 lakh people, the Minister said the in last four years, the Assam government has taken tremendous efforts to develop the state’s culture, literature, arts and also the biodiversity hotspots such as Kaziranga.
During the event, PM Modi will also be distributing over 1.09 lakh land pattas (allotment certificate) to the landless indigenous people.
Meanwhile, on account of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary, PM Modi said that the nation will always acknowledge the sacrifice of the leader and his birth anniversary will be known as Parakram Divas.
Ahead of his visit to Assam, Modi in Assamese tweeted on Friday: “Tomorrow morning I would be among the people of Assam. At a programme in Sivasagar, 1.06 lakh land pattas/allotment certificates will be distributed. We are committed to doing everything possible to preserve the rights and unique culture of the great state of Assam.”
