The CID has summoned the Guwahati businessman after a team of the investigating agency was allegedly denied to meet him on Sunday here

Guwahati: The CID investigation into the case of the arrest of three Jharkhand Congress MLAs with Rs 48 lakh has suspected the involvement of a city based trader.

The CID has summoned the Guwahati businessman on Monday after a team of the investigating agency was allegedly denied to meet him on Sunday here.

He was wanted for quizzing by the CID in the case for collecting vital evidence. The West Bengal CID team alleged that when they visited the trader’s residence in Guwahati, residents refused to open the gate and also the house was being guarded by police personnel.

Earlier, Congress has alleged BJP leader and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of trying to topple the Jharkhand government by luring the MLAs with cash and political rewards.

The Congress has also suspended the MLAs from the party.

On the other hand, while BJP has denied these allegations, the arrested MLAs claimed the money was meant for buying sarees to be distributed in their constituencies for the forthcoming World Tribal Day.
