Jihadi member of Jamat-e-Islami Bangladesh apprehended along Indo-Bangla Border

Shillong/Guwahati, August 9: Acting on a tip-off, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday apprehended a member of Jamat-e- Islami (JEI) Foundation from Bangladesh at the zero line of Indo-Bangla border in South Garo Hills (Meghalaya).

As per BSF sources, while interrogating the JEI member identified as Md Jaharul Islam (26) revealed that he had been working for Jamat-e-Islami foundation in Bangladesh and wants to become a ‘Jihadi’.

He also mentioned that he works for an international forum SEBDA Children Denmark.

The JEI member also revealed that he became ‘Jihadi’ due to constant torture by some ruling Awami League party members. He also confessed before the BSF officials that he doesn’t bother to die and will kill all the ‘Kafers’ (Disbeliever of God) who do not respect Islam and the Holy Quran.

“I am a supporter of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and I was not satisfied with the policy of ruling Awami League Govt, thus, I became a Jihadi,” said the JEI member during interrogation.

It may be mentioned that during interrogation by the BSF, it has also come to light that he had entered the India territory to visit the North East States.

Meanwhile, BSF in a press communique stated that after observing some suspected movement near the unfenced area on the International Boundary, the BSF party encircled the suspected area and apprehended the Jihadi member of JEI.

It may further be mentioned that BSF has stepped up its special drive against the illegal intruders and has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent the nefarious design of trans-border criminals to maintain tranquility in bordering areas of Meghalaya state.
