Guwahati: The Kamrup Metro district administration has decided to act tough against city bus operators for violation of traffic rules and unauthorized halting at flyovers in the city.
On Wednesday, the DC, Kamrup (M) Pallav Gopal Jha chaired a meeting with City Bus Associations with senior officials from District Administration, Police, GMC, Transport and others.
In the meeting, DC Jha has strictly directed the City Bus Associations to avoid unauthorized bus stoppages atop the flyovers in the city from now onwards. The DC also directed the traffic police department to look into the matter and take action against violators.
The DC also directed the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), Transport Department and Public Works Department (PWD) to take the joint initiative to identify at least 60 bus stoppages in the city and put up permanent display boards at the earliest.
