Kidnapping of OIL Employees is meaningless, shameful: Hiren Gohain

Guwahati: Assam literary critic Hiren Gohain on Saturday termed the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) (ULFA-I) decision to execute the abducted Oil employees as meaningless and shameful.

Addressing the media in the city, Gohain said, “The abducted employees are common people and are not responsible for anything.”

He also urged the people of Assam to protests against the incident.

Taking a dig at ULFA-I, Gohain said, “Paresh Baruah should have demanded the government to release the people in jail who were arrested for protesting against the Citizinship Amendment Act (CAA).”

Moreover, the literary critic also said that if the militant outfit is facing economic crisis then they can turn up to the illegal market for revenue.

He also urged the banned militant outfit to sit on a talk with government and spare the lives of the two innocent people.

It is also to be mentioned here that the ULFA (I) on Friday issued an official statement regarding the two kidnapped oil employees that they will be punished on Monday if their demands are not met.
