Guwahati: Assam’s GVK EMRI (108) emergency service provider’s employees have been facing a huge problem as many of the employees staying in rents were being allegedly harassed by their landlords.
The trouble for the employees continued despite repeated appeal by the State government and Assam Police to the landlords to cooperate with these frontline workers.
So far, at least three of the emergency service provider’s employees have been tested COVID positive. According to officials, two amongst them were Emergency Response Officers (EROs) while one was from Supply Chain department.
An official source said, “GVK EMRI management had received information from its employees that few of the landlords are not co operating with employees of 108 service. Therefore, GVK EMRI management appeal to the landlords to co operate and not to harass personals in emergency service.”
Mrityunjoy 108 ambulance staffs (EMTs and Pilots) across the state of Assam have been handling COVID positive patients.
“If some of the employees wish to go under quarantine due to family issues the same will be discussed with the state government,” the source added.
GVK EMRI management has also been conducting swab test for all the employees.
Mrityunjoy 108 being an essential emergency service in the state, employees of the organization were not advised to home quarantine till tested COVID positive.
