    Largest SI Recruitment in Assam Police: Four ADGPs Redesignated as Spl DGP

    At least 288 out of 597 selected candidates are post graduates

    GUWAHATI: Four Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Assam have been re-designated as Special Director General of Assam Police in the same posts on Friday as the state police made its largest ever intake of 597 sub-inspectors (SIs) at one go.

    Y K Gautam, ADGP cum Director, Fire & Emergency Services; G P Singh, ADGP, Law &Order and Vigilance & Anti Corruption; L R Bishnoi, ADGP (TAP) and S N Singh, ADGP (Communication) were the four top cops who were re-designated as Special DGP.

    All of them would continue in level 15 of the pay matrix.

    Meanwhile, for the first time in the history of the state police, a total of 597 SIs were recruited at one go on Friday too.  

    Assam Police in a statement said, “At least 288 out of 597 selected candidates are post graduates. Some 277 are science graduates and 60 are engineers. A record again.”

    At least 69% of candidates are below 25 years, youngest being the 22 years old. 31% are between 25 to 30 years. The selected SIs are from all the districts of the state except Sadiya and Dima Hasao.
