Larsen & Toubro Ltd Donates Rs 5 Crore To Aid Assam Flood Victims

Larsen and Toubro(L&T), multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Mumbai contributed a sum of Rs 5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to aid the rehabilitation works of those affected in the Assam deluge this monsoon.

The L&T originated from a company founded in 1938 in Mumbai apart from business interests in basic and heavy engineering, construction, financial services and so on is also known for it’s philanthropic works.

DK Sen, Whole – Time Director and Senior Executive Vice President (Infrastructure) of Larsen and Toubro Mumbai along with JN Patnaik, Vara Prasad and other dignitaries recently visited Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at his office and handed over a cheque of Rs 5 crores.

It may be mentioned that the Assam floods claimed lives of more than 80 people affecting lakhs of people in over 1000 villages of 17 districts this year. Over 50,470 people were displaced by floodwaters and took shelter in the relief camps across the state.

In Kaziranga, the deluge claimed lives of more than 200 animals including 19 Rhinos, 130 Hog Deer, Sambar Deer, Wild Boars and Porcupines. 15 camps out of the 199 camps had remained submerged under floodwaters.

Amid the devastation, common man including bureaucrats, politicians, Bollywood celebs across the country have shown great concern and announced for contribution via crowdfunding to the Flood Relief Funds. Benevolent individuals, organizations and others have been visiting the flood-hit people with relief and making monetary contributions to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund
