The left parties in the state of Tripura have threatened to intensify their stir if fresh voting is not conducted in the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
As per media reports, the Left parties led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on April 29th, 2019 came out with protest rallies across the West Tripura constituency and the slogan “farcical polling in the parliamentary seat on April 11” was renting the air.
The left leaders are of the view that when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in the year 2014, they brought in the “goonda raj”.
“On the first phase of Lok Sabha election on April 11th, 2019 in the West Tripura seat, the BJP goons turned the polling totally farcical by indulging in large-scale rigging, intimidation and attacks on opposition party supporters and voters,” said Left Front convener Bijan Dhar as quoted by the Business Standard.
It may be mentioned, a delegation of Left leaders on April 30th, 2019 will meet the Election Commission in New Delhi to reiterate their demand of re-polling.
