GUWAHATI: ‘Like a new daughter-in-law’ Ajanta Neog, former Congress legislature joins the saffron party, BJP, in the city. Immediately after joining the party, she said she was overwhelmed and it felt like a new beginning.
Neog who held the position of Minister for the Public Works Department (Roads & Building, NH), Urban Development & Housing during former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s tenure was a part of Congress since 2001.
Recently, she was expelled from Congress for her ‘anti party activites’.
She said, “Congress has lost its ground and disconnected itself from reality and the public. I have always worked and served the people selflessly and I believe with BJP I can do better. Today I feel like a new daughter-in-law entering her new home.”
She added that BJP has a vision and agenda for a better India and she was attracted to its vision.
Along with her, former Congress MLA Rajdeep Gowala and former BPF MLA Bolendra Mushahary also joined BJP in the presence of its President Ranjit Dass and minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Earlier, Sarma said, “No one joins BJP for any condition but to work for nation-building, BJP never differentiates amongst its workers and everyone will get their due recognition based on their performance, Neog is a senior politician and has a huge mass support base.”
All of them were given the responsibility of state executives.
