Guwahati: The film industry was among the fist firms to experience a drop in business due to COVID-19, but in the post-coronavirus period, one after another cinema halls have been shut down in the city.
The nationwide-lockdown has forced four cinema halls – Apsara cinema hall, Meghdoot cinema hall, Urvasi and Vandana in Guwahati, and the silver Screen cinema hall in Vijaynagar to close down.
The cinema hall remained closed since March this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.although, the ministry of home affairs have allowed the reopen the theatres from October with 50% audience; the Guwahati Hall Owner’s Association has decided to keep the halls shut till mid-November.
The halls in the city have not yet reopened as the owners have to undergo massive loss, they decided to shut the halls.
