Guwahati, April 4, 2019

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on April 4th, 2019 filed his nomination papers at the district collectorate for the hilly Wayanad constituency located in Kerala.

He was accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, state leaders including former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala.

After filing the nomination he participated in a roadshow where he was seen in an open vehicle. A massive crowd of his supporters cheered for him as he came down of his vehicle to shake hands with them.

He said, “I am here to send a message that there is a feeling in South India, the way Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS are working a lot of people feel that their language, culture, and history are under attack. I will contest from both North and South to counter RSS-BJP’s attack on cultures.”

“I understand that my brothers and sisters in CPM will now speak against me and attack me, but I am not going to say a word against them in my entire campaign”, he added.

Wayanad will go to polls on April 23rd, 2019 and the results will be declared on May 23rd, 2019.
