The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Sikkim has come out with a new equation to beat the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election and the Sikkim Legislative Election. The saffron political party has decided to dump SDF by forging an alliance with the PS Goley-led Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), the main opposition party in the state.
As per information, the alliance was forged at a meeting between Goley and BJP national general secretary and Northeast in-charge Ram Madhav.
“The two parties have decided to form an alliance for the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Sikkim,” BJP’s Sikkim in-charge Nitin Nabin said as quoted by PTI.
Sikkim, with assembly strength of 32, has been led by Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling of the SDF since 1994. The BJP, for its part, sees this as an opportunity to make inroads into the Himalayan state.
