Machete-wielding man succumbs to injuries, family lodges FIR against DSP

Golaghat, December 6: The family members of the machete-wielding man, Gyanendra Rajkhowa who succumbed to his injuries after being shot by security personnel on Wednesday have filed an FIR against the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Partha Pratim Saikia of Golaghat Police demanding his immediate arrest.

The family members have further refused to accept Rajkhowa’s body in a protest against the DSP till the latter is arrested.

On Wednesday, amidst the first phase of the Panchayat Polls, Gyanendra Rajkhowa had created a ruckus outside the No 1 Habiyal, Dergaon Ganakpukhuri polling station.

The security personnel deployed at the area resorted to firing to scare Rajkhowa. He was shot on his leg.

He is an ex-BSF jawan and was admitted to the Golaghat’s Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital.
