Sanjay Bhosale in Guwahati

Guwahati: A Shiv Sena leader identified as Sanjay Bhosale was detained outside the luxury hotel where Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde and other dissidents were staying in Guwahati.

Bhosale, who claimed to be the deputy chief of Shiv Sena’s Satara district unit in Maharashtra, was held while sloganeering in support of Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray carrying a placard urging Shinde to return to ‘Matoshree’, the personal residence of Thackeray.

He said that he wanted Shinde to return to Mumbai and discuss their grievances.

Police said that he was detained as he was protesting without any permission while Section 144 of the CrPC was imposed already.

On the other hand, sources claimed that another Shiv Sena MLA Dilip Lande was on his way to Guwahati to join the Shinde camp on Friday. With his arrvial, the number of Shiv Sena legislators in the rebel camp will reach 38, enough strength of legislators needed to split the Hindutva party without being disqualified under the anti-defection law.
