Guwahati: Main accused in the Assam Police exam scam Diban Deka has been sent for another six days of CID custody as ordered by the chief judicial magistrate court in Guwahati on Tuesday, according to reports.
The court has extended the custody by another six days as according to sources, the crime branch has requested to keep Deka for seven days under custody pertaining threat to his life.
Diban Deka surrendered before Assam Police at Patarkuchi area of Bajali district of Assam on September 30. Deka had earlier stated his association with the company responsible for conducting the examination for Assam Police.
In recent development to the case, PK Dutta who is considered to be one of the chief conspirators of the Assam SI exam scam has been arrested from Kakarbhitta area along Indo-Nepal border on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, Dutta was arrested while he was on his way to Assam along with his son-in-law.
A special team of Police and CID arrested accused Deka, sources revealed.
The Assam police investigating team besides raiding Dutta’s residence at Rupkonwar Path in Hengrabari also raided his many hotels and properties in Guwahati and Dibrugarh.
The former DIG has been absconding since September 20, the day when the Assam government cancelled written exam to recruit sub-inspectors to the police force.
The examination was cancelled after the question paper was leaked and circulated on social media.
