“Make Magh Bihu accident free”: Minister Patowary to all DTOs
Guwahati: Assam government on Thursday has asked all District Transport Officers (DTO) of the state to ensure an accident free time during the Magh Bihu festivities.
State’s Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary interacted with all DTOS via a video conference and instructed them for strict enforcement during Uruka and Bhogali Bihu against drunken driving and over-speeding.
‘If you can save lives of people and prevent accidents then it would be a real and meaningful celebration of Bhogali Bihu for you all’, said Patowary.
Patowary particularly instructed DTOs of Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji and Tinsukia to visit the accident-prone sites, market places etc. and strictly enforce traffic regulations.
The DTOs appraised the minister about their enforcement plans with coordination from officials of Excise and Police during Bhogali Bihu.
Already, police checking has started in the city while filing of this report.
