Man accused of rape attempt on pregnant woman in Nagaon

Guwahati: In a bizarre incident, a man Rangloo area of Nagaon district has been accused of attempting to rape a pregnant woman by locals in the area.

According to witnesses, the accused, identified as Jibon Patar, tried to abduct and rape the woman with the help of another person on Sunday night.

However, the locals interfered after hearing the woman’s scream and saved her.

According to a local woman, who did not want to be named, Patar has earlier been involved in such incidents. Despite repeated complaints, the police failed to take any action against the accused.

Meanwhile, police stated that an investigation has been initiated to dig out the truth regarding the incident.
