Man arrested with rifles at Udalguri’s Harisinga

Harisinga, December 6: A man was today arrested with six handmade rifles in Udalguri district.

The 37th battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) nabbed the accused Simson Ghatowal during an operation at Koramor under Harisinga Police Station in Udalguri district.

Later, he was handed over to Harisinga police.

Officer in-charge of Harisinga Police Station Bileswar Kalita said, “Ghatowal has confessed before police that he had bought one handmade rifle from one Khilpa, resident of the same village, three months ago and made the other rifles own his own.”

A case (No 50/2018) under section 25 of the Arms Act 1959 has been registered at the Harisinga Police Station.

Court has sent him to two-day police remand.
