Guwahati: In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband after a quarrel at Lalungaon in Batadrava under Nagaon district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Rupsana Khatun.

One Emradul Islam frequently tortured and physically assaulted his first wife, alleged the victim’s sister before the media.

It is also learned that the couple, Emradul of Lalungaon under Batadrava police station got married to Rupsana of Dhania Bheti village in Nagaon three months ago.

A case was lodged by the victim’s family against Emradul at Batadrava police station.

On the other hand, the husband, Emradul Hussain denied killing his wife and said that Rupsana died after consuming detergent powder.

Meanwhile, Emradul Hussain was detained by Batadrava police for further interrogation.
