Man killed in rhino attack in Lakhimpur

Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a man was killed after a rhino attacked him near a paddy field in Dhakuakhana in the Lakhimpur district on Friday morning.

The deceased identified as Sunil Doley is a resident of the Abhaypur area in Dhakuakhana.

The incident took place when the animal was reportedly roaming in the village area and spotted the man while he was returning to his home from the paddy field.

According to reports, the man succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital.

Meanwhile, local people alleged that a stray rhino has been creating panic in the area for the last two days, however, the officials of the forest department didn’t pay any heed to the issue despite repeated complaints.
