Man ‘shot at’ by bike-borne miscreants in Assam’s Hailakandi

Guwahati: Amid the Magh Bihu celebration, a man was shot at by unidentified assailants on Friday evening, police said.

The gruesome incident took place near National Highway 6 of the Chipsangan area under the Algapur constituency in Hailakandi district during the evening where a group of three men came in a Pulsar bike and shot at the man from a point-blank range and they escaped.

The injured person identified as Masuk Ahmed Barbhuiyan was immediately rushed to Hailakandi Civil Hospital by a passerby; however, he was later referred to Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) for better medication.

After receiving information about the incident, Hailakandi Superintendent of Police Gaurav Upadhyay and along with a police team immediately rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation.
